It doesn't crash until it tries to load the previous design. I wonder if the design got corrupted but more importantly, I wonder if there is a way to configure the software to NOT autoload the previous design on startup? Maybe then I can have a clean playing field. Meanwhile I'll located the CD and try to do a repair.

Amaya OS v10 started crashing

A reinstall of Amaya OS did not fix it, nor did telling it a false path for the design files. I notice when it tries to load a design at machine start, that it is NOT the design I was last embroidering because it is showing a round hoop. I was using a 5.5" square hoop on the last active design. The Amaya OS crashes when it's about 20% into the second set of progress bar.
I guess 'life' is telling me to take the night off._ _________________ _
Lawson Poling
Awesome Lawson\'s House of Stitch

Go into C: drive, Program files, Melco, Amaya and delete everything in the Jobs folder or just delete the Jobs folder itsel. When the computor is turned off and then back on again it will reinstall the Jobs folder but not what was in it.
I have seen several situations where a design is just too large or has a graphic attached to it and it takes too long to load on the initial startup process and then may crash the system...
Empty the Jobs folder and you should be ok....

I think it is a networking issue. I have an icon on the system tray that says a network cable is unplugged, but I have secure connections on both, the laptop and the Bravo. Hmmm. A fried NIC in the Bravo would be a bad thing._ _________________ _
Lawson Poling
Awesome Lawson\'s House of Stitch

When I have the Amaya OS running and then start the machine, the network cable unplugged icon is still showing an X on it in the System Tray while the machine is trying to download the previous file. I found the Recent File List in the Registry and changed the first file to a different one to see if it was indeed a corrupt file, but no joy. By the way, I'm an IT Professional for 13 years so I have 'permission' to go into the Registry.Trying system restore on this ol' XP now.

DID you follow Rods advice to delete the jobs folder?
Melco software is unstable enough without going in to the registry..
You should check out your hardware first Test cables, If your an IT Pro then you should be able to ping the NIC in the amaya and test the one in your system.
If your pluged directly in to the Bravo you should be using a crossover cable.
can't think of anything else this second...
good luck

System Restore didn't do any good. I cleared out the Recent File List and it still tries to load a job when I start the Amaya OS. This time I did it while the machine was already running and I did not have a Network Cable Disconnected message, so that connection looks good. I created a shortcut key for the Reject Job command and pressed it like a mad man but that didn't do any good. I don't have access to as many machine options when I can't even get the machine to come up without crashing Amaya OS. Running out of ideas._ _________________ _
Lawson Poling
Awesome Lawson\'s House of Stitch

The actual problem seemed to be the hoop settings. It's like my 5.5" Square Tubular Hoop got deselected from the Amay OS software. I'm guessing that when that hoop was not present but Design Shop was like, "Hey, use this hoop", everything melted down. Just a guess, cause after I rechecked that hoop and selected it for the job, I'm layin' down stitches again._ _________________ _
Lawson Poling
Awesome Lawson\'s House of Stitch

Rod, now that I've had time to reflect, I'd say you are quite correct. I had finally discovered that I could put color behind my design in Design Shop and it was still part of the file when I tried to load it into AOS. And then the fun began. But it's all good; I learned yet more stuff tonight. It just wasn't what I thought I was going to learn. Thanks again, everyone!_ _________________ _
Lawson Poling
Awesome Lawson\'s House of Stitch
