How do you adjust the pressure foot on an XT?

On the needlecase, in the back on the left, is a small wheel. For hats, turn it all the way "up", then down two clicks. For flats, turn it all the way down and then up two clicks.

One must remember to place the needle in the head down position for the adjustments to work.

On the XT, while doing caps, the correct position of the pressure foot is to ratchet it all the way down and then come up two clicks. This is just a starting point and may be adusted to match however thick the center seam of the cap is to reduce the " hammering sound" from the foot impacting the surface of the cap. The goal is to hold the cap surface " down " to prevent flagging.

The NON-XT Amaya's are just reversed from this as the rule of thumb with them is to ratchet the presser foot all the way up and come down a couple. This is because the standard Amaya has an intercangeable needle plate. One has a raised surface and the presser foot has to be raised to accomadate for this and the other is flat and is used for sewing on flats......

Ugh. I hate the term non xt... as if we big red owners are missing out on something. I prefer original amaya owner.

Just a note here... that assumes you actually use the raised needle plate. We find we do just as well without it and run hats a couple clicks up fine on the standard plate with the conventional cap frame.
