• 2 Million Stitch Maintanence / Stuck in down position

I've search the topics and tried some of the advice given, but nothing has worked. We got the 2 million stitch message tonight, and got to the pressure foot lubrication, and needle one is stuck in the down position and won't go up. As soon as it did this, the Amaya program froze up and had to be restarted. When the program restarts, nothing happens. Can't get into to do a head up. If the machine is restarted, it tries to do the initial boot thing, and click a few times and ends up with the foot still down. When we started doing the pressure foot lubrication, the directions said to look at the picture and lift up on the thing and lubricate it then let it go. I barely lifted up on it and it stuck all the way at the top. Would have been nice to warn not to push up too high. Any advice on how to get the foot up so I can reboot the machine? Hopefully some advice without needing to call tech support.

    Thanks in advance!!

Need more info on what you have done before this happened. It appears that you have had to remove the black plastic upper arm cover on the right side. Is that correct?

If so, did you have the machine all the way over to the # 1 position?

Did you allow the needlecase to move without the black plastic upper arm cover in place? And is it back in place now?

Can you rotate the Z-axis shaft by hand 360 degrees? Make sure the the E-stop is depressed if the machine is on...Does the # 1 needle raise and lower while turning the E-shaft by hand a full 360 degrees? If the cover is off, replace it BEFORE releasing the E-stop!!

Have you tried going into "Maintenance" "Head timing" in AOS and left clicking on head-up?

Yes the black cover was removed and it was in position #1. The machine has never moved without the black cover on. Once we put the lubrication on the shaft we put the cover back on and clicked "ok" on he step by step walk through. An error popped up and said something about it couldn't finish and that's when the Amaya program froze up and shut down.

The Z-axis shaft can be rotated and needle #1 does go up, but the Z-axis doesn't spin around and around 360 degrees if I turn in one direction. It's turns either direction enuff to get the needle up, but not round and round. I'm guessing it's supposed t keep going in one direction.

Now since the Amaya program crashed, and we have tried shutting off the machine and rebooting it with no luck, I removed the black cover to see if there was something back there that I could make release so the foot would return, so the black cover is off at the current time. It's never moved with the cover off, so from the sounds of it, we're safe on that point. Should I forget about the cover and just leave it on? It doesn't seem like having it off to find something behind it is going to be helpful anyway, so it might as well just stay on. Also, since the Amaya program and the machine have been shut down, when we tried turning the machine back on with out the Amaya program open, it tries to do the initial boot up, but the needle just goes up and down a couple times and stays down. If I start the Amaya program the little clock thing pops p where it tries to find the serial number and the machine, but never finds it. It keeps doing that over and over. Since it never finds the machine, none of the options to go into the area to do the head up ever come up on the menus.

Just in case I'm not explaining it clearly, I'm going to post a small video to show what all is going on. Maybe that will help.

I made a short video of what's going on. Maybe it will explain it better.

I looked at your video. It appears in the video that the Presserfoot seems to be locked together with the needlebar. Check to see if the Presserfoot is resting ON Top of the needlebar clamp that holds the needle. If it is, dislodge it and make sure that it has proper clearance to miss the clamp as it travels up and down. You can use a screwdriver to push it back and carefully bend it for the proper clearance which is approx 1/8 inch or so.

Then turn off the machine and AOS. Turn AOS back on . When the grey screen comes up....don't turn the machine on yet.....go into Tools, Options, Ethernet and check Force Download. Now turn on the machine and see what happens...

The Presserfoot is resting on the needle bar, and it does want to hit as it travels up and down. I took a pic, and think I took a pic of the right thing to confirm what you said.

Now when you say to bend it with a screwdriver, is that something that needs to be done behind the black cover? Just want to make sure I'm doing it in the right area before I do it.

I did try the AOS portion, and it did let me in further then before. I think the AOS is freezing up still because of the machine not booting correctly. Once I know where to bend for sure, I'm thinking it might work normally.

Not sure if these help, but this is what is going on behind the black cover.

Got the machine back and running. The last advice from Rod or Sharon did the trick. Thanks a million! And a million more after that!

Guess you got the presserfoot shoved back for clearance ok....have seen this happen before.

The presser foot clearance to the needle is something to check on an on-going basis, especially when doing a lot of caps. The angle of the cap seam causes the presserfoot to kind of slide down towards the needle at impact and over time will cause the presserfoot to fatigue and bend slightly...using a flatblade or phillips scwewdriver to shove against the bottom of the presserfoot will bend it back in place to where it has approx 1/8" clearance...
