  • power outage then machine wont sew

I have an AMAYA XT. I was in the middle of sewing out a large design I've done hundreds of. All was well, then we had a neighborhood wide power outage. When the power came back on, I had to reset the design, reboot the computer, turn off the AMaya. When I started up again, the machine would take 3 slow stitches then stop. No matter what I tried, same thing. Then I shut off the thread detection and it sews fine. Of course, when there is a thread break, the machine keeps going, the thread becomes tangled everytwhere unless I'm right there to shut it down. Any ideas what happened and how to fix it?

Hi Gini, did you have a surge protector or battery backup on your setup? Hopefully, it didn't fry the Amaya's computer board at the time of the power failure. To check, I would power down everything entirely from the power source; then replug the power; then restart the PC, etc. Hoping it just needs a clean restart! Good luck.

We have a surge protector but not a battery backup. I did unplug the AMAYA and restart, to no avail. It sews fine, but only with the thread detection off.

Here in Florida, we lose power often. I have a 92 minute battery backup that only the embroidery machine is plugged into it. The power has gone out and the machine keeps cranking away until the design is finished. Once I had a 11k stitch design, about 2 seconds after I hit "start" the power went out. The machine finished the design and I was able to shut the machine down safely afterwards. Well worth the money.

I will get a baackup power supply but in the mean time, anyone have ideas on what I need to do? I still can only sew with the thread detector off. plus now a thread tanglr pulled my machine out of alignment (the needle doesnt line up with the hole by about a quarter inch)

The only suggestions I've recieved to this post were either how to prevent it in the future, or to call my tech. "My tech" is 8 hours (and mega bucks) away. Anyone have any other suggestions?

If your needle is that far out of alignment with the needleplate hole, the needlecase needs to be recalibrated.

The design may be corrupted and needs to be deleted out of the jobs folder.

the software may need to have a clean uninstall and then reinstalled.

                But....needlecase first, it needs recalibrated.
