  • horrible loud vibrating sound

I started sewing caps today and my Amaya xt started making a very loud horrible vibrating sound when a fill stitch started sewing. I stopped the machine and quickly set about doing all maintenance steps. It does not make the sound when sewing column stitches just fill stitches. Very strange. I watched the cable that runs behind the x drive carriage rails and it seems to be vibrating when the fill stitches are sewing as the drive is making larger movements. Not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

You need to adjust the tension on the cable. In OS- go into the help menu and type in "x-cable"- help will give you instructions on how to adjust the tension. Be sure to turn the nut on the end of the cable and not the cable itself- my version of OS says to turn the cable, which is what you don't want to do.

We had the same thing happen a few months ago. We called tech support and they sent us a tension gage. My husband adjusted the nut and now we're good to go. I have the tension guide somewhere, if you need it let me know and I'll try to find it. Tech support emailed to us immediately. We were told it is because we upgraded to the newer software.

Greg did you purchase a tension gauge from melco to adjust your cable?

Melco sent one with the first two Amayas we purchased. Look in your operators kit (might even be under the foam). If you don't have one, no sweat- it's cheap. The part number for it is 33909.
