  • Tackle Twill Satin Borders

I have a new customer asking about pricing for sewing on 10" letters and City name on Jersey's. He has the tackle twill and wants it sewn on with satin borders.

This is new to me, never done it before. So I typed in name and numbers in DS using tackle twill, outlines, some other things and the stitch count is really high. Is this normal. Can someone who does this tell how you do it. Seems like a pretty expensive process to me.

I have no doubt it will be a high stitch count-satin border/line takes up a lot!
They aren't going to get it done cheap...maybe that's why they are supplying the twill-thinking you can sew it down for $2 or something...check with Stahls and compare pricing and I think you might also find a stitch count...or someone here will jump in.
I've only done large area applique with stitch saver, but the border
alone around a 10" limo outline ate up many thousand stitches!

      Roland,
Thanks for the sanity check. I thought maybe I was missing something. Anyways, gave him a rough estimate, and must have scared him off, because he hasn't called back. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I think he was expecting around $3 or $4 to do an entire shirt. I don't think he'll find anybody to do it for that. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't out of line.

        Sue,

If he is supplying the twill numbers he should giving you a stitch file too. It's not easy making a stitch file that works well after the twill is cut. A 10" number 8 with a satin border is about 7,000 stitches. I won't tell you how much to charge but it should be more than the normal per 1,000 charge.
