Loud Noise

I have an Amaya XT V9 purchased used and have owned it for a year. Had a tech come out and do complete check last April. I kept up with
routine maintance. Last week I started hearing loud metal noises with speeds at 900 or greater, and with side to side stitches. After much reading, I think it might be the X-cable tension? Any suggestions. The nearest tech is a few hrs away and I really can't afford a visit at this time...travel cost is a killer! Appreciate any advise.

If you think it might be the cable, they do need to be cleaned and lubed. Give it a clean and a lube. Sure couldn't hurt!

The CABLES need to be lubed??? I am experiencing the same problem - really loud, metal on metal noise on the side to side motion with the cap hoop only. I know something has to be lubed, but darn if I can figure it out. And you think you have travel expenses! Try living on an island with no sea transport.

It is the cable tension. You should have a tension guage that came with each of your machines. Go into the help menu in OS and type "cable tension" into the search box. The first thing that pops up in the results box should be Amaya X-cable tension. All you have to do is find the guage and follow the instructions. But (big but)- my version of OS 10 instructs me to turn the cable instead of the nut at the end of the cable. Turn the nut NOT, I reapeat NOT the cable itself. Turning the cable can result in it snapping. Never had it happen, but it just makes sense- turning the cable will twist it and make it fray eventually.

Thanks to all. Gregory..no guage with my machine and cost $300.00 to purchase one from Melco.

$300- it's just a flat piece of metal with 2 tabs or studs on it- that's ridiculous!!! You and the Melco tech must have misunderstood each other! It's such a simple procedure- did you take a look in the help menu?

I might have said that wrong when I said lube the cables. I might be thinking of Big Red (original). I remember my tech showing me how to get in there and clean up and squirt grease in there. Maybe the new ones dont. Hope I didn't mess anyone up!
