  • Laser Light

    Hello,
When I get a hooped cap on the machine, press the laser light, center it on the seam, after it sews out, the design is about 1/8" off to the left, how can I fix this?
    Thank You !

Please don't hit me for saying this but it is the solution.

Move the cap 1/8" to the right before sewing.

Because caps are curved - the light will not show you the true center - as it's not positioned directly in line with the needle. See, if you corrected it for caps, then you would be sewing flats 1/8" off....

lol, I did think of that, but was also thinking it's still under warrenty, so if it needed adjusting, could get that done.

      Thank You !

I have never had to get 'dead on' lineup on flats-always figured it was the same amount off!
Guess you can check it both ways-put masking tape on the center seam of the hat so you can 'mark' the spots for comparison.
I was pretty sure it's off on flats the same amount because the tech told me why the light isn't exactly on the needle.
Have to look at it next time!

Honestly, on hats, I line up the center seam with the needle and ignore the laser all together.

The lasers always seem to get a little out of whack and even after adjusting it doesn't take long til they are off again. I use the laser as a general guide but for lining up hats to the center seam or for ficing a mistake that you have to rehoop and re-align I use the needle not the laser to be the most accurate. I guess after sewing without a laser for 10 years you just get used to using the needle rather than a laser.

I measure the bill of the hat and mark the middle close to the seam. When the hat is hooped I line the needle up with the chalk mark and use the laser to trace the design field.

                  Christy:

We were taught in class to measure the hat like Just Sew It says above then when aligning the center up you could drop your needle to make sure it is in the center or area you need it to be.

                  Good Luck!
