I have seen these before and they turned out to be a loose/bad solder connection on the motherboard....or possibly just a poor pin/connector on the harness to the motherboard...what other symtoms is the machine exhibiting?
The thread keeps coming out of the needle and won't sew. It doesn't seem to be breaking, just bouncing out of the needle. It is happening on each needle that I have tried. Also, when the machine starts to sew, it doesn't sound right when it starts. I don't really know how to describe the sound. It doesn't last too long because right away the thread comes out of the needle.
That symptom may or may not be related to the Hall error you mentioned. When you say the thread is coming out of the needle....is it sewing any stitches at all? Is it breaking the thread after a few stitches?
Have you checked the hook timing?
Is it giving you the Hall error everytime the thread pulls out/breaks/stops stitching?
If I click on hook timing it says 47.3. Is that what you mean? I only saw the Hall error once. I can only get a few stiches before the thread just seems to bounce out. It doesn't even seem to be breaking. I have an XT that I bought in 2009 so it is not under warranty. It also makes a loud clicking noise when it changes needles.
Thanks for your help!
If you have only saw the X hall error once, I wouldn't worry too much about that, yet...
Now about that clicking, this may be your problem. If the clicking has been going on for a while, the threadfeed drive gear has probably broken. This is a small white nylow gear that drives the threadfeed rollers.
To check to see if it is broken, move the needlecase to needle #1 and remove the right side cover . There are two covers that make up a right and left side that split in the middle. There are two long screws on the right side and one shorter screw on the left cover that holds the covers together in the back. You only need to remove the right side cover. The gear will be very visible. Push in the E-stop and raise the pinch roller on the number one threadfeed roller. Check around the hub area of the gear to see if it is fractured by using a small screw driver to turn the gear from the side of it. If it is fractured or broken, it needs to be replaced.
Holly Cow! Did I find a problem. There was a rats nest of thread around the shaft of the gear. We were able to clean it all out. Should we add a little grease or oil that shaft? There was quite a bit of thread we removed, so it may need some.
