• Threadfeed 101 w/OCD: Auto vs Standard

This 1st Post is to All Those OCD PERFECTIONISTS Out there who are Struggling with making their Embroidery "Hands Down Beat the Competition" You know who you are. When you see someone elses embroidery that looks better than yours you obsess about it for days, Until Finally you snap, tear everything apart (Design and Machine) until YOUR embroidery now BLOWS away the Competition. It BREAKS MY HEART to see Amaya Customers who are upset with their Embroidery, become discouraged, Blame the Machine, end up hating Melco, and want to get rid of their Amaya....

**For those of you... I Welcome you to my world... and offer you help**

*** If you do NOT suffer from OCD, or already think your stuff is AWESOME. Then PLEASE STOP READING and move onto another Post.... ***

First off,
1) Hands Down, the AMAYA is the ABSOLUTELY the BEST DOLLAR for DOLLAR / POUND FOR POUND, Industrial Embroidery Machine on the Market. And that goes the same for DESIGN SHOP.
2) A Sewout On STANDARD can BLOW AWAY a SewOut on Auto. Seen it, Done it, Taught it.

Anyone that tries to Explain to me that AUTO looks better than STANDARD... You may as well convince Christopher Columbus the Earth is FLAT.
I have both, I use both. I know that with Every Release of Design Shop, Melco is giving 100%, and Auto is always improving.

A little History Lesson, For the FIRST 3 years the Amaya was out, It was STANDARD ONLY. There WAS NO AUTO!!!! Thats right Folks, NO AUTO.
"No Auto....?"
"Someone say No Auto?"
"Who said No Auto."
"Why... that person did..."
"Surely that person doesn't know what their talking about. No Auto... you should always run Auto.."

Just the opposite Folks, anyone not using Standard is because they never Truely took the time and Learned STANDARD.

The ONLY time you MUST run AUTO is when the gaurmet thickness actually changes!!! for example on the SEAM of a Cap. Running Auto for any other reason means you are compensating for an underlying issue (machine or design). People get confused all the time and think "well I have 4 layers of fill stitches on top of each other in this design, I have to use AUTO." Not True Folks, Not True. Design Shop knows when you have digitized Layers of Thread On Top of Each Other in the SAME Design. It Automatically increases the Material Thickness behind the scenes. LIke I said, 3 years Auto Did NOT EVEN EXIST, We sewed out designs with Fill Stitches on top each other ALL THE TIME... SEWED GREAT!!! ONLY Time we had problems was when the Gaurmet Thickness actually changes (Like On a SEAM)... Melco acknowledged this was a problem... and hence AUTO THREADFEED was born...... I remember, I was there.

Everytime I visit a Newbie the hardest thing for me to TEACH them is LEARNING and UNDERSTANDING Standard ThreadFeed. Something I FEAR that Most Trainers Completely IGNORE.

I need to wrap this up, some of these post are too much...

For those still on the fence......
Riddle me this...

1st there was STANDARD,
Then there was Auto,
And Then there was Auto with Lower Limit...
Now there is Auto with Lower and Upper Limit...
**HELLO !!!! Using AUTO with ALL these Limits you may as well JUST SWITCH TO STANDARD People!!!!

PS. True Sling Shots are because the thread is too tight.... <Whispering> People that run Auto all the time Wouldn't know this because their thread feed setting is always changing.... but lets keep this a secret...

<Bell Ringing>
Hope you enjoyed Threadfeed 101 for Folks with OCD...

Again... I don't visit this site often but good luck...

Interesting reply. I must admit that I use auto most of the time.
I am always trying to improve my stitching. My pet peeve is puckering, tight stiches (it seems to keep the false bobbin break indicator from going crazy the Amaya likes tight tensions-IMHO) and with today's performance fabrics they offer a tough challenge.
I look forward to a discussion that most of the techs don't explain enough about the tools in our softwear when you call.
I am analytical I guess, because I want to understand the theory behind the setting, not simply because it works or looks good - but why?
If you use standard the majority of time how do you set the settings on your machine to help with excessive puckering? I must admit that I am curious and I am not married to 'auto' but want to improve. I purchased the mighty hoops in order and with the tought that they would help in hooping and minimizing any streching in hooping. I am sorry to ramble on but I would like for someone to explain these settings to me in terms that systematically make sense that I could use to adapt to the different fabrics that I encounter and if that means using standard that is no problem to me.

Thanks
