My XT is not trimming, the stepper motor makes a loud sound. The cables work freely. I would think that just the motor is bad, except when I move the selector out in the stepper menu, the cutter motor moves a little, moving the cutter out about 1/4". The cutter will go back in after 1st moving it out and then in. Any ideas?

Gary,
You did not say how old your XT is or what version of software you are running, but try this for starters.
Go into Maintenance, Steppers and at the very bottom of the display page you will see a small box that is labled "Detect Trimmer". Left click on this. This will, or should, reset the machine to the correct trimmer type for your machine.
Reboot the AOS and see if this fixes your issue. The symptoms you described are symptomatic of a change in trimmer selection....let us know...

Steve,
I checked all three of my XT's. None of them changed the trimmer setting by clicking on it more than once.
I have one XT with the newer ACAT style trimmer which is trimmer type 2. The standard trimmer on the XT is trimmer type 0.
I believe all of the XTS machines being released not have the upgraded ACAT trimmer on them. I am not sure about the Bravo.
I don't have an answer as to why your numbers change, but none of mine do. Interesting....

Rod,
I just checked my machines and they no longer change the trimmer type with more than one click of the mouse on detect trimmer. They have done that as long as I can remember. I am running the latest Beta version of OS.
