  • wacf extended

hi i have been using my wacf for my xts. and when first using them it was really tight and now its really loose. i moved the strap lock to the farther holes so that it becomes tighter, but now its not tight at all. is there something else that i can do to make the strap tighter?

Have you loosened the wing nuts, and slid the strap over making it shorter?

I looked at mine here and I can not see any screw holes to move it to. might be a diff. model though.

Yes the strap is as tight as it can go with the wing nuts. I have bent the hook piece that the strap locks to making it tighter. But seems like it's not as tight as before though...

You can buy a new strap from melco.

I've had this for only a month or so... Is it normal for it to get loose like this that fast? It's tighter now but when doing flexfits it dosnt seem as tight as it was before

If it is only a month old it may have been defective, If not melco should be able to help you tighten it up.

            Wish I could help more,
            Sorry

              Nalo_b,

Number 1. You should not have bent anything on the cap frame...defective or not while it is still under warranty. The toggle over point on the strap lock is critical to it functioning properly. Having bent any part of this area may have changed the geometry severely. I would say from past experiences that Melco does not approve of modifications to their cap frames...it may be unfortunate that you made this modification before sending it back to Melco for inspection.

Without actually seeing you hoop caps to see what you are doing, or not doing, it is difficult to say why they appear "loose" to you.

All caps and brands hoop differently, sometimes even from one lot to another.

Are the wing nuts slipping, allowing the strap to loosen?

What backing(s) are you using on the caps?

Are you placing the band teeth "in" the cap bill seam?

The cap frame being sent out with the XTS is the newest modification series of the wide angle cap frame series. It is different than previous WACF frames in that it uses a "clamping" technique rather than a "hooping" technique. I have found it to hold the cap between the teeth much more securely than the previous WACF verisions. But, as with the other WACF frames, the cap needs to be hooped as tighly as possible.

Is the new XTS cap frame compatible with the XT cap gauge.
Or would both need to be purchased?? to use it?

Sorry I know it is a bit off this topic.

                  Jerome,

The answer is no to the first question and yes to the second. A new guage would need to be ordered.

                  The old style WACF cap frames will work with the new guage, but the new style frames will not work with the old guage... :-{
