We in Fountain Inn (Greenville) had no effects from Irene at all, however, my Dad lives about 60 miles from Myrtle Beach & he said they got a good bit of wind & rain. I know you all have seen the news- SC was lucky! Thanks for the concern, Margaret.

We are OK, however, my boss was contemplating hooking all the XT's and computers up to a generator in case we didnt have power. Luckily, I convinced otherwise and had the day off yesterday. I can only assume that this would have been a bad idea on so many levels... Any thoughts!?!?!?!? )

I don't think I would do that unless I talked to my tech or somebody with more experience than myself. I wouldn't want to risk all my stuff for one days worth of production anyway.

Computers and generators don't always make a good mix. The average generator doesn't do a very good job of regulating the current.

The solution is to run it through UPS Battery back up.
It will regulate your voltage.
It is recommended by Melco to always use one for your Amaya and its computer..
There is no reason not to use a good generator we use it all the time.

Thanks, Jerome- I got some cap training a couple of years back and the trainer couldn't believe that we just plugged ours in the wall directly. I told the boss about the UPS battery back-up thingies and he just snickered at me. We have been fortunate... so far.

it is a lot of money to risk loosing a machine for a $50 savings.

Thanks for the concern about Irene! We were powerless for 48 hours and 45 minutes.
We ran a generator for the freezer, and refrigerator only. I was afraid the power would not be correct for the XT.
Had a leak in one room and some torn screen wire on the porch, plus 6 hours of limbs and so forth in yard. We were luckier than some here that still don't have power.
