  • CAP FRAME BILL PROTECTOR

hi have an xts and have noticed recently that i need a bill protector. when doing curved bill hats they have been rubbing the metal strip in the back of the needles and tearing up the hat. i have been bending the bill straight but it keeps on going back to its original shape and scraping.

i have looked on the melco site, but dont know what part to order. anybody know the part #'s of the parts i need?
    thanks

I just use a double layer of 2" wide painter's tape (the blue stuff) and it keeps my bills protected. I also try to stay away from needles 1 and 2 & 15 and 16, as this is where the end of the metal strip of the thread trap is sharp & can do the most damage. Melco needs to round the ends of the strip on the trap in my opinion.

        Dorothy,
Hadn't thought of that- probably a lot more durable- even though I use the painter's tape multiple times. Thanks for chiming in!

I have just sewn several slip covers using heavy canvas like meterial. the shape of a visor
I always slip it on the bill covering both sides..
          No more rub marks.
          No expence (tape cost)
and I have been using the same ones for years and they are perfect.

Just push a cap down on the table with two layers of material trace around the bill cut it out with a seam allowence and sew the outer Curved edge close and over cast the inner curve to prevent fraying. and it will be ready to use.

Some one posted this and I tried it & it worked great. No more marks on the Bills. Cut a strip about 1/2" wide of the soft part of velcro with self stick on one side and attach it to the back part of the machine that rubs the bill. Bill from Manhattan IL

I like to keep it simple. I just fold a 7" square piece of 2 oz. cut away in half corner to corner (trianlge) then use two hat clips to hold it to the visor. I have done this for years and it works great.
