  • Bobbin carriers - how often to replace?

We have had our Amaya's for about 3-4 months now, and they run ~6-8 hours a day. I have noticed on one bobbin carrier it is hard to maintain tension. Adjust it to the correct tension, then run it, and soon it is either too loose or too tight.

Obviously we have cleaned it and taken good care of it.

Is this a sign that the carrier needs to be replaced, and if so, were do you get more?

Also can a warn bobbin carrier be the cause of excessive thread breaks?

Have you dropped it, perhaps on a concrete floor? It may be that it is out of round. And then, the tension spring may just be "sprung". They are cheap either from Melco or Madeira, around seven dollars. I have 5 Amayas & I always keep about 10 on hand, just in case.

      Hey Gregory,
I need to order some bobbin cases from Melco. I have an XTS and I'm thinking it's the L bobbin, is that correct?

We don't have concrete (fake wood) but of course it is impossible to not drop one every once in a while.
