  • bobbin thread

I am having an issue w/ my bobbin thread not catching. I just had someone out to check another issue w/ my machine so it was just serviced and all was well with it. He did tell me I had my bobbin tension too tight, so that is loosened correctly now. My pressure foot is all the way down, and I believe my thread feed etc. in OS is ok. But the issue is that half of my running stitches for either underlay or for any design that I do the top thread and bobbin thread do not hold. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Whenever my bobbin and I are having "discussions", I always swap out the case and the bobbin to see if that eliminates the problem.

Check to make sure the needle is straight and is centered in the needle plate. I had trouble once and the needle was bent.

I don't know what you are stitching on with the presser foot all the way down, but chances are that there is not enough top feed going on to let the top thread grab the tail of the bobbin tail. Try putting the presser foot all the way down and then back up 2 clicks- this is where it needs to be most of the time. Acti-feed relies on the presser foot height to help it determine thread feed.

I want to thank everyone for all the advice, I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I had some computer crashing issues(ugh!). I have tried all of the above and it was ok for a couple of sews and then up to the same old tricks. I am going to call Melco in the morn to see if they have any more advice for me. Thanks again to everyone who replied.
