My machine is stuck with the needle down. I have gone to maitenance and tried head up but the message comes up: Custer01-Head01-color change stepper index error-off index while sewing. When I turned it off and then back on it tries to reset but makes this grinding noise....afraid I might mess up something else so will wait for anyone who knows what I should do next....

Oh and the presser foot is down but the needle is between color changes....there is no needle in the needle place now.... -
You are going to have to manually get the machine (close to) head-up position. Push in the e-stop & reach up around the head and turn the z shaft by hand, if it is hard to turn or you hear bad noises, I would stop & call my tech. If you can get it close to head-up, then try to manually move the needle case to get a needle over the presser foot hole. Now release the e-stop and see if you can get a true head-up position.GregoryComment
