Thread is jumping the feed roler

I have a XTS, love it, but I have a problem with the thread jumping the red feed roller, then is gets all bunched up at the bobbin and usually ruins the garment. Has anyone else experienced this and what is a solution?

I have tried moving to a different needle, but that only works for a whle.

What do you have the thread feed settings set at? Try restoring the defaults. Go to toos>setting?>thread feed>restore defaults>apply>ok.

When is the last time you did a complete maintenance on the Feed Rollers, both the red ones and either white or yellow inside rollers? Need to make sure that they are lubricated properly and also make sure the thread is in the "v" groove in the middle of the black cap.

Hi Linda, just did a full clean and lube last week on the rollers, both sets. I reduced thread feed by one number and it seems to help, I am doing caps and usually run thread at 7, but I droppped to six and it seems better.

Usually when thread is running out from underneath of the red pinch roller, it is because the roller(s) have become contaminated with oil or grease. Normally the thread will run off to the left side of the roller and then a birdnest will result.

When this happens, the suspect rollers, both red pinch and inner threadfeed should be taken out and washed in warm soapy water. Do not use any alcohol or solvents on the rollers.

This usually cures the problem.

As far as the Auto Lower Limit goes, back before Auto Acti-feed was available, the standard material thickness setting for caps was 12 and then you baby sat the stitching over the center seam for the best results. But, with Auto Acti-feed and the Lower Limit tool the magic number is dependant on the type/style of cap, for the most part. If you go too high on the Lower Limit setting, false thread/bobbin breaks and/or loose loopy looking embroidery may result.

For flat work, the default setting of 1 for the Lower Limit works just fine, but it can be dependant on the age of the machine, whether it is an XT or Big Red and how well the Threadfeed Sensor is working.

Rod, Thsnks, for the tip. I just pulled both out and washed them in soay water, dried them and put some more grease on them and back in. We will see.
