  • Thick Leather Embroidery... help!

We have been embroidering leather successfully (Amaya XT) but a new product we have been asked to sew is giving us a lot of trouble. The strange part is that we sewed 4 samples before the trouble started. The leather is about 1/8 inch thick. Since 1 inch is 254 points, we set the acti feed to 32 points. We have tried auto feed with a limit of 40, tried setting the feed manually, changed the needles, needle angle, bobbins, and bobbin cases... We tried changing the fill stitch from pattern 1 to Satin. Nothing is working! We are having thread breaks, bobbin breaks, loose stitches, skipped stitches... If you have any hints, please let us know! Thank you!!!

Did you adjust the actifeed or did you adjust the material thickness.

I would up the material thickness and then work with the actifeed setting from there.

It may not seem like it would make any difference. But it has for us.

are you using a Sharp needle?
    I am sure you are.

Actually, I use a light-ball point needle, set the presser-foot height to 3, and set thread feed to about 25-29 for columns, and about 112-117 for fill- works fine for me.
