I wanted to thank Rod, Sharon and all the tech guys that help us out on this site. This has happened to us once before but this morning as I was trying to leave for a meeting our Maya started that clicking noise when moving from needle to needle when we first turned her on. Wasn't happening last night when we turned her off. To make a long story short I remembered seeing this post from Rod way back and I ran in here to the computer and brought up my Tech notes. Rod had suggested to someone to go to each needle and hit the lazer button and the UP arrow at the same time and do this for all 16 needles. We did this and I was out the door to my meeting and Don was able to continue with the design he was working on. So Thanks Rod and everyone else who helps us out when we need it.

And I just had the same problem, had actually broken the wheel and had to replace it. I knew what was wrong when I heard the loud click, but couldn't remember how to fix it. So, I did a search and this is what I came up with. Thanks again to one and all!

What does laser + up arrow do?

It advances 200mm of thread on the active needle.

Why does advancing the thread stop the clicking noise??

it can reset / Align the Thead gear And dirve gear,

There is a very close tolerance between the two you can see it by looking behind the needle case at the white gears. You some times can see that all the gears are in perfect alignment or not.

My machine does this too.
Can I turn the machine on, load a design and then do this function?

I think it is universal command.
laser & ^ up arrow advances the thread 200mm.

It was the Thread Feeder Gear that was broken. My machine had been making the loud clicking sound every once in awhile for months, guess it finally broke some teeth off. My husband was able to change it with the help of a technician.
So, this time I had just installed OS V9 and it was the first time I ran the machine and the clicking started I looked on the message board to find out what to do. Advancing the thread somehow lines up the Thread Feeder Gear with the thread feeders. The clicking is the gear sliding from needle to needle when the gears aren't lined up. It just took awhile for the gear to finally break. And when that happens, you can't sew :-(
