  • thread feed problem

I have a big red that quit feeding thread last night, in looking I determined that the motor was working but the thread feed drive gear was wobbling and was not engaging the thread feed roller because it was loose so I tightened it.
In order to get to it I had to remove both the thread feed sensor and the thread feed motor,
I put it back together and the thread feed is working but not correctly, I can do fills and average width columns (havn't tried narrow yet)
but wide columns won't sew, constant thread breaks. Is there an adjustment that needs to be done positioning the sensor? (I noticed it can be moved back and forth) Also if you go to maintence>steppers>thread feed>fwd 200 how much thread should be fed? And how is that adjusted?

    Mike,
Not going to lie to you, man.
It's sounds like your thread feed gear needed replacement which is easily removed from the machine.

Having removed the motor and sensor may have only given you more problems. If you're still having problems to date, you may want to seek out the help of a Melco tech.

Hope you got everything back together by now.
