  • Trimmer not trimming, as well

I have been following the posting about the trimmer not trimming because mine is acting up as well. It is the Amaya XT. It fails to trim frequently but randomly. If I run the test, it trims fine, bu on projects it acts up. My husband has checked all around the blade and selector, he has done the "detect trimmer" suggestion and now has the back off of the machine. Both cables seem okay, the selector and blade both seem to be going in and out as they should. We cannot understand why this occurence is so random. The "sister" Amaya right next to it never fails to trim even when we do the exact same project/design. Is there some adjustment that we need to make? twinsmom.

Start with the simple things first, have you replace the knife? If not, do so. Also, while you have the knife and it's carrier off the trimmer housing block assembly, do a through cleaning and put two or three drops of oil on top of and in the selector channel. See if this helps the situation before making any other adjustments to the machine.

Make sure you are hooping tautly, presser foot is down where it is suppose to be, auto lower limit settings are not to high, etc...all of these can affect the trimming functions with these trimmers....

If you do what Rod says & it's still acting up use the little "flag" that came in you operators kit & adjust the gap on the rotary hook support arm. Be careful not to strip the two little screws. You will have to remove the needle plate to do this.
