Smallest Round Hoop for AMAYA XT

Good afternoon!
Has anyone used that small 3.51 round hoop and have issues with the Hoop limit beeing detected? I turned the hoop dtection limit off and did a trace and could see the laser inside the hoop and also on the screen my little design is on the inside of the dotted line of that hoop size unless the measurements are off and that hoop is smaller.....
Any help is appreciated before I attemp this without turning that hoop limit back on and hit the hoop with a needle!! Don't need that to happen.

Debbie, I just did 8 hoodies with the 3" hoop. Put a panther head on the little "V" in the front. Traced the design and moved it on each one. The hoop on the screen was right on.

Did you have to turn the hoop detection off? I am thinking maybe tthe issue is the laser is always off by a tad amount. Just might be the amount to cause it to send that hoop error.
The design is just under 2.5 inches so with the 3 inch hoop I should be OK, right?

It is possible that the laser is off by a bit depending on its adjustment and the thickness of the fabric. And, your design is really close to the maximum usable area of that hoop, maybe even a bit over. You can get a rough idea of the usable size of any hoop by measuring across the inside of the hoop and subtracting 1".

I recommend that you never start sewing if the trace detected a hoop limit. Change to a larger hoop to prevent expensive damage to your machine.

The laser on all of my 4 XT's is a little to the right- put a piece of thin tearaway in a hoop (so you can see the hole in the needle plate), and you can see what I mean.

The laser light on the Amaya's was never intended to be a "true" centering device. It's main function is to trace the design and detect for hoop limit errors. We all use it to help center our work, but it always appears to be off center because of the angle at which the laser is pointed at the material. If it was able to shine straight down then yes it could be a "true" centering tool.

As the material gets thicker, like on the center seam of a cap for instance, then the material contacts the laser beam higher up on it's angled path and appears to get farther to the right and to the rear of real center...
