  • Machine will not tie off properly

I have one machine that on occassion does not obey tie off commands. It will not tie off all places commanded. The next day, it may decide not to tie off in a different place in the same design. Odd.
I have tried unplugging the ethernet cable and starting it up to clear it's "brain" so to speak, which helped to clear up the problem briefly that day. Any other suggestions????

Have you got the correct trimmer type detected?

Is your trimmer clean? Do you have the appropriate trim and tie off selected for the type of thread you are using (metallic vs. rayon)? What about the tail length?

I have the same settings as the other machines and the same trim settings. Cleaned the knives. It just doesn't want to tie off, leaves a trail of thread and if gently tugged, will unravel. It didn't used to do this, so is the motherboard dying or something loose there perhaps?? Thanks for the suggestions.

Tying off is a function of the Stitch file.
          Not the machine.
If it is in the stitch file the machine will sew it.
          Check the stitch file.
to make sure the tie ins and off are in it.
even if it is an old file.

What determines which tie off to use? Sometimes I notice that my lettering does unravel at the ends when it was supposed to have tied off...which is the "strongest" tie off setting to prevent this?

              Cindy,

I have found that the #5 is good for small columns. It ties off in an upside down figure 4 and if you ever have to pick it out you will (*&^%$&^%$ it. With the latest Ver9 software, you can create your own style and save it.

I just started using 5, actually, so that's nice to know that you think it holds well...thanks, Rod! Your willingness to share your knowledge with us is invaluable to me...
