Needles tearing polo's

Hi all,
I have been sewing a logo onto Blue Generation 100% polyester polo's and I am finding holes when I'm done beside some of the letters, which are very small (.209 inches tall or 53 points) I am using a Organ titanium ballpoint 75/11 size needles. How can I stop these tears?

I would start by going down at a size 9 needle and decreasing the density somewhat.

Yes reduce the density, a #9 Ball point needle will a quick spritz of silicone spray will help also.
