6 panel middle seam

So I got the hang of doing hats everything is working out great the only problem I'm having is the middle seam. It breaks thread especially white, I have to slow down the machine to 300 on that certain part just so I can watch the thread closely. If thats not bad it's the shredding of thread at the same location, is there anyway I combat these problems cause the only real problem is the middle seam.

P.s. I used every size needle and once I get to the middle seam I wind up with one or both problems

I usually run hats between 8-12 material thickness for structured. Is it set too low?
