How tall can I make the design on a hat?

2" or less is our general rule. There may be exceptions but for best results, that's what we stick with.

Depends on the hat, but for baseball hats, 2.8" should be all right. For those low profile hats, 2.5 or less.

Well, from John's answer, you can see that I am always pushing the limits. If you make your rule 2", you probable will never have problems.

A good "rule of thumb" for a design on a cap is the size of a business card.

Yep, standard business cards are 2" tall by 3.5 wide

Although width is less of an issue. Just did a design today 4" wide - no worries. Could have easily gone 4.5 or more.

Height for me being 2" because I like to have even room below the design and above before the crest in order for it visually to appear right.
