  • Puckering Logo

Saw a logo on a Sport Tek polo shirt this weekend. Same logo we have sewn before. Our logo tends to pucker and cup, especially after washing. Their logo had been washed and was laying flat as a pancake.
I've always suspected the backing shrinking and not the polyester shirt. Anyone have anything new they are using that could help?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Very likely they have edited the design removing some of the stitches (especially if this is a Dakota design). Dakota doesn't know what fabric you will be stitching on so the designs are "bullet proof." We always edit and remove stitches but still keep a good coverage.

It depends on the fabric being sewn on. If sewing on lightweight fabric, knits, dress shirts, etc. I use the Poly-Mesh or No Show (same thing) backing. Two pieces cross-hatched. If stitching on something heavier, I use a medium weight cutaway.

I had a perfectly round logo to digitize. Had a hard time getting it to end up round. I added a full solid criss-cross underlay at about a density of 2 and then didn't have any more underlay for the individual parts. Then I kept the density for all the top elements as light as I could get away with. It gave me an almost completely flat design. And it was on a light weight 100% polyester polo shirt
