Crisp lettering

How would I go about digitizing for very crisp lettering?

I always use a #10 needle. If the lettering is really small, then a #9 needle with 60 wt thread will give the best results.

What are you stitching on,
What size are you stitching your lettering,
What thread are you using,
if you are making small letters you need to decrease your density a bit yes less thread and turn off short stitches.
