  • "How to charge for embroidery" question.

    Hello,

I am still fairly new to commercial embroidery and I am trying to get a better grasp on what I should be charging. Here is question, please.

I have a file (see image) that is 8,174 stitches and two color changes, going on fleece vests. There are 25 vests.

I have read a good basis for pricing is $1 per 1000 stitches for about $8 I have added $2 per coat for setup & handling. For a per coat cost of $10 and a total bill of $250.

    Is this about right?

    Thank you,

I would charge $10.90 plus the cost of the vest, but I am doing four garments at a time.

If a customer is supplying the item to be embroidered I would charge $1.50 per thousand stitches, if they buy it from me I charge $1.25 per thousand stitches. I also charge a setup fee of $30.00, and I might give them a quantity discount, but that's up to you, and don't forget sales tax if it is applicable.
