  • skipping stitches

Working on a custom fill shape. Test sewout looks fine, fleece with cut away backing and E-Zee aqua on top. Sewout on sweat shirt started skipping stitches, changed the back to a random fill, sewed another test. Not as many skipped stitches but still looks crappy. This is a 11.5" h x 7.5" wide "M". Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Barb

Is this a design you have used previously?
    Did you create "digitize" it?
did you do any alterations to it
including saving in a different format.
Have you had a needle break or just replace a needle.
is your presser foot adjusted properly?

Do you use spray adhesive? If so, it may be time for a hook wash.

        Yes

I started from square one. I redigitized the design last night. Did a sew out this morning. Perfect. Now that I am sewing on the hoodie, back to skipping stitches again. I even slowed the machine speed down. I don't use spray on adhesive. Thanks for all the input.

When I'm sewing sewing (not embroidery sewing) sometimes switching from a ball point to a sharp (or vice versa) helps.

Or I replace the bobbin case, or floss it clean, or just try a different bobbin.

Or a different cone of thread. Or a different needle number.

          Or adding more backing.

And when my Silver Surfer is acting up, I find if I leave a baseball bat or golf club where it can be "seen" by the machine, sometimes it straightens right up...

Is your sweatshirt "flagging" -- bouncing up and down? Is your hooping good?
