I know how to place letters that are in design shop on an arc, but what about letters you import in? Is there an easy way to do this? I am doing tackle twill letters and they want them on an arc. Any hints and tips on how to line it up?

you can use an arch to lay them out on, then delete it.
but they will not move as a unit as lettering does

How do you get an arch to lay them out on? I have no idea how to do that.

You can do a walk stitch to make an arch. Click on Walk Input and left click where the left end of the arch is. Then go to the top center of the arch and right click to make a curved point. Then go to the right end of the arch and left click. Then hit enter. Then if you need to adjust the length or width, just use the black "sizing" squares. That's how I would do it. Maybe others have different suggestions?

You can also just drag out a circle lets say 6" arrange your letters on it or in it and then delete the circle and center your design. Done

And... isn't there a way to group the elements (individual letters) so that you could move them as a unit?

Yes, you can group the elements. Just highlight the elements and click on the Group icon in the Project Box.

Try selecting them all together using your shift or control key like you would any group of files or elements, then go to "object" "transform outline" right click in the middle top and bottom, and then you can move those points up or end points down, adjust bezier handles to form a nice arc using the suggestion of a circle to build on. Of course, we don't know what level of DS you are using, and this feature may not be on all levels, just know it's available in pro+ .
