Do I need to change my needle when I use a certain material. When I embroider on sierra pacific 0469 Featherlite polo my lettering don't look so great

What needle are you using? Is the featherlite a pique or a microfiber?

Years ago when I got my machines I was taught use 11BP for almost everything; 12sharp for hats. Ball point needles will move the threads out of the way where sharps will punch through threads. Try a smaller ball point; even a 10 might work on light weight fabric.

75/11 titanium ballpoint is our go to for this type of shirt.

80/12 is a specialty needle in our book. Almost never comes out. We stick with 75/11 ballpoints and sharps and prefer titanium for longevity.
