What type of stitching to use on edge of patches?

I need to do a couple patches to cover a current design on some apparel. What settings do I use to make the edges look like the usual patches you buy?

What adjustments do I make to the design so the stitching ends surrounding/enveloping the edges?

I use a satin stitch about 40-50pts wide and 3.6 density, with an edge stitch (border margin set at 5pts) and double zig-zag (75% width) underlays.
The density might vary depending on whether you're getting full coverage of the edges.
