  • buying fonts

Hello all, I am learning about my Amaya slowly but surely! Seems like I am having trouble with fonts. I like how the Melco fonts stitch out. I am learning about manipulating pull comp, density, and underlay. But, I would like to move into fonts that are a little more fun. I have three daughters, they love the curlz font. I bought a font and I do not like the quality of the stitch out, and you can not go into the properties, right? I played with a true type font and have decided that is too advanced for me at this time! So I quess what I am asking, where should I buy fonts? I don't want to buy 10 different curlz fonts to find a good one. Or do I keep playing with the tt fonts? Any help would be great!! thanks

I do a lot of editing of tt fonts. I never purchase fonts. You can use the Alphabet Editor, which I admit is pretty complicated. Or if it's just particular words that you want to use that you'll use over and over, just convert the whole word to wireframe or if just particular letters are not stitching out right, you can edit just the individual letter in wire frame mode.

There's a site called 8 claws and a paw their fonts stitch out very well but you have to merge letter by letter. I also digi my own fonts and to be honest I don't like how melco letters stitch out.

Thanks for the replys. I think that I am going to purchase a few fonts, to get myself using my machine and then when I am comfortable with my machine, I will revisit my true type fonts.

I have found several of the Melco fonts that don't stitch out well. Whoever digitized them often did not pay much attention to the order the parts of many letters should stitch. I often just save the letters that I don't like as vector and redigitize them. I have started experimenting with creating keyboard fonts from TT that I have purchased. It is working pretty well but I am not yet as proficient with it as I would like.

We have used the Melco Curlz that came on our machine a lot and have never had a complaint and we don't see anything wrong with the stitching on it or we wouldn't use it.
