Advice on a large monogram

I need to do a 10.5" monogram in end scroll on a duvet cover(center). 10.5" is suppose to be as large as I can go without making any changes. Would you leave it as a satin stitch or do a fill?

This may be dictated by your customer....most don't like a fill stitch

Those would be very wide columns. I might try it if it was for decorative purposes only. If people may sit/lie on it or it might be run through the washing machine... NO WAY! I would use a fill stitch and outline the letters. Be sure to charge for all those stitches!

If they like it or not a monogram that large MUST be fill.
I would never do it in satin and I would not give them the choice.
Inform them it must be fill .
or they will be back complaining how horrible it looks after use and the first wash.
and every thing will catch in the stitching.
I would walk away from the job rather them use satin stitch.

On that font, I have gone as large as 7" without switching to a fill stitch. Any larger and the columns become wide and sloppy. I've offered fill stitch but as the others said, most customers don't like it.

This question of large monograms has been coming up quite a bit recently. Several interior decorating magazines have shown very large monograms on bedding but I haven't been able to get a good enough look at the items to tell if they are using some sort of applique, a printing technique or fill stitch embroidery.
