  • Thread Breaks

I'm in Texas and it's been very dry and I've been running my humifier all summer to help keep down the thread breaks. We are actually having cloudy skiies today and a little humid....I'm have thread breaks every 20 stitches or less...so frustrated...should I turn off the humidifier, I've changed needles and everything....any suggestions are welcome!

Very little information to go on here....

    1.Presserfoot heitht?

    2. XT or Big Red?

3 When was the machine lubricated last?

    4. Type of thread?

    5. Bobbin tension and condition?

    6. Machine Speed?

    7. Caps or flats?

    8. Hook timing?

b Burr on face of retain support finger?

    10. Fills or columns?

    11. Small lettering?

    14. All needles?

    15. Using adhesive spray?

    16. Type of backing?

    17. Garment type?

The list can go on....there just has to be more information available to go on before a solution can be suggested.

OH sorry, so frustrated....I'm doing towels that I've done a ton of times....using melco font octagon 3" tall...edgewalk and double zigzag it's just a column type font nothing fancy...using a different thread than I've ever used called viscose, I think thats cotton...started before I realized it wasn't poly. Have setting on the needle using set on cotton, speed 850, checked bobbin,it just shreads. I am using a fill stitch, Big Red,replaced needles...

You may have answered your own question....it apears that the big varible that has changed is the thread.

Run the design using a known "trusted brand" of "poly" thread on an old towel....see what happens.

Put the presser foot all the way down on the Big Red for this exercise......

If you want don't want to give up on the towel that's on the machine, try running at 80spm and stay by the machine. You can do this by pressing and holding the start (green) button for a few seconds after you press it once to get the machine stitching (press, release, press-hold, release). Sometimes this will "get through" the one. Good Luck!

              Your thread is rayon

              here is a definition

Viscose is a viscous organic liquid[1] used to make rayon and cellophane. Viscose is becoming synonymous with rayon, a soft material commonly used in shirts, shorts, coats, jackets, and other outer wear.

Rayon is not as strong as poly and you will have more breaks.
