Short Stitches on hats?

Are short stitches ever used on hats? The small lettering, Micro Block, is varying and I am looking to keep it consistent. Any suggestions?

Short stitches should apply to the design, not the substrate. IMHO............

I'm pretty sure that I have seen a post which said that you should not use short stitches on small columns.
