  • Quality of caps and clothing

My wife and I started our first cap job, which is 16 dozen caps. We embroidered a little over 9 dozen and when I grabbed the next box of caps, I could tell a huge difference in the quality.

Well 14 of them have creases in the front that will not come out and 11 of them had the foam sticking out of the sweatband. They had been stitched but the back side of the band was not long enough for the stitches to hold it.

Is this a common problem with quality of caps and is this a problem with clothing ( I am sure there is a quality issue)?

Where did you buy your hats? I haven't had an issue with any bad hats but I stick with just a few vendors that are reputable. I have only returned 1 dozen hats because my customer didn't like them and had no problem getting a refund. I've been in the business right at a year now.

I have been in business 7 years and have never had to send back any hats. I order from Otto and Cobra and sometimes Flex-Fit and if I have a bad hat or two in the order, I call them and they replace it.
I am prepared to send back the off-center caps, but they never ask me to.
My best advice is to always inspect the entire order before you embroider on any and call them right away. If they are not helping you, let everyone know and try other companies.

We use Otto for our caps - have never had an issue. We've ordered occasionally from SanMar as well and I think in all the years I've been doing this, I maybe had 1 or 2 bad caps - that's it.

Most of the hats have the foam sticking out of the sweatband. The sweatband has the stitches in but the band is not stitch together. The one side was too short for the thread to hit. It is about 4 inches on each hat.

The company is sending us a RMA number to return them, so no problems with the company.

Maybe with dealing with the 16 dozen it just seemed to be so many bad ones?
