residue from fusible mesh backing

Does the white residue from fusible mesh backing wash out or does one need to remove this by using an iron and cloth to absorb the remaining residue. Hate to have someone complain it is scratchy or looks nasty. Anyone??
And thanks for all the imput regarding this backing. Lots of extra steps, but does seem to help with these dri-tech fabrics.

Use a teflon sheet it will make it not white.

But next time use less heat if you use the right amount of heat you will be able t pull it off and leave no or very little residue.

do some test fusing and you will find the right setting .

When I mentioned this issue, Fred Lebow told me to reapply the hot iron before pulling the fusible mesh away...works like a charm. Even a brief application of heat serves to "release" the adhesive from the fabric.

Still would like to know, if a trace does remain, will it wash out or must it be removed by heat. I realize I could just try it, but thought someone may have already done that test.

It will never wash out.
The adhesive is there to stay.
You can disperse it by reheating and you can reduce it by tranfering it to a pressing cloth like a paper towel.

the bestthing to do is NOT heat it so much that it over melts.

I use them all the time and I have marked the setting on my Iorn and Heat Press both were the backing just pulls away cleanly.

Now I dont even think about it any longer, it is second nature.

We utilize a low mwlt fusible- 260-280f 10 to 12 seconds - no steam = on our fusible mesh to avoid shrinkage or scorching of your fabric

I never even thought of using my heatpress for applying the no-show iron-on stabilizer!! What a time saver. And now that Fred has given us the temp and time, next time I am going to try it that way. I learn something every day.
