  • Digitizing of a design that fades from one color to another

    Hi!
I was wondering if someone could help with digitizing a pretty simple design, however, it needs to fade from one color to another. I can digitize the actual shape of the design (it's like a simple Phoenix bird -- the one that rises from flames) but I don't know how to fade from one color to another in DS.
If someone can help with it, I can send the graphics file of it.
Thanks so much! You folks in this group are just a super bunch! MJ, Everything Embroidered
P.S. In regards to previous posts of mine about my XTS not trimming properly, the trimming mechanism is out of adjustment, so Melco is sending a tech on Monday. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for your responses to that problem also!

    MJ,
Depending on which version and level of DS you have, the steps will vary.
The subject you might want to play with is referred to as "Effects".
You can lay one layer of thread down, fill or satin and then lay a second layer down with a
"random edge" which will give you something of a blend between the two colors. You will really want to play in this area to get the look you are trying to achieve.

Ed, thanks! I have DS Ver 9 (NOT the Pro version, just the regular version). I've been playing with it some (Effects) but still struggling.

Here's a question I've run into while playing with it. I digitized the outline using the "complex fill - unafill input mode" because I wanted some splice lines to separate the sections. It walked me through it with the prompts at the bottom of the screen, but I accidentally hit enter and ended the fill input without finishing the splice lines that I wanted. I've searched through everything to figure out how to add splice lines "after the fact" -- meaning, I'm no longer in the unafill input mode. Looked through Help menus and can't find anything about splice lines. Does anyone know how to make splice lines after the fill object is already done?

It looks like the Pro version has more capabilities when it comes to blending multiple colors. Would anyone be willing to digitize this design in their Pro version -- I would pay for it.
