  • Help with Backpacks

Hey I am new to embroidery and just ordered a dozen backpacks for a client and cannot get the front pocket in a hoop. Help, what can I do I am getting really frustrated! What about the slim lines from Melco?? I was looking at them on their website, do I have to order anything "extra" to make them work on my amaya?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Makelle in Utah

Makelle you have to determine if there is enough room in the front pocket to fit over your bobbin arm first. If so then yes using a slim line type hoop is the best. I haven't used the slim line, I use a product by ICTCS but they are not cheap to purchase.

Makelle, I use the clamp system, and it works great every time. The clamp system is great for those items that we just can not get a hoop on them. I believe Melcomart (or what ever is called now) sell them for the AMAYA.
      Hope his helps

I just did 24 back packs using the Fast Frames. I cut a window for the embroidery in the sticky backing so there is no build up on the needles. I also use binder clips to hold the bag to the frame. It works for me. I have the Clamp but sometimes it is too big for the area I have to embroider on.
        Thanks, Linda

By Fast Frames you mean the Slim Line from Melco? I was looking into them, but they are so expensive. I am a new business owner and can't really afford that right now.

There is actually something was called "7 in 1 fast frames exchange" There are others out there. We have the 7 in 1 fast frames that work nicely with the Amaya's. Believe that is what she is referring to. They are MUCH cheaper. You will, however, also need to purchase something called "sticky back" it is a backing that is used with the fast frames to keep your garment, bag, or whatever in place. I also use clips to help hold items in place.

I don't normally use any sticky back with my fast frames.....I hoop with regular backing and use clips/clamps to hold it in place. I bought the clips/clamps from Fast Frames folks a couple of years ago at the Ft Worth ISS or Printwear trade show.

I don't normally use sticky backing with my fast frames either, only occasionaly if it's something too small to clip on. I also use the clips w/reg backing, and sometimes, no backing. They always look great.

You also get either a 10 or 15% discount on the fast frames if you are a memeber of NNEP.
