  • Designshop moving letters vertically on an arc

    Hi all!
I'm still learning the ins and outs of DesignShop (Ver 9 regular-not Pro and not Lite)
I can't figure out how to move just one letter on an arc vertically? If I select just the one letter, it moves horizontally but not vertically. I've tried the options under "Spacing" in Properties, but nothing there works for just moving one letter a little higher than the rest of the letters on the arc. Can someone help?
    Thanks, MJ, Everything Embroidered

I believe the only way to do that is to convert the line of text to wire frame and manually move it? I might be wrong but that is how I've accomplished that move in the past.

Hi! Thanks so much for the response!
Yes, I was hoping there was a "real" way of doing it. I've done that -- convert to wire frame -- but then they are no longer actual letters on an arc, and can't be edited as such or converted back to letters. This is a problem for me as I work with text on an arc all the time and need to work with them as letters, not objects! I can't believe that such an advanced digitizing application can't do this -- in other digitizing software, it's a regular feature of the software!
Hmmmm -- does anyone know of a way to do this keeping them as text?
Thanks again for your response, debndukes!

Click on the letter and then hold down the control key and click on the x to move that letter up and down

OK, I just ran across a weird thing with a TrueType font in DesignShop. I have all the text with 2 types of underlay, so all of them should have underlay. However, when I simulate the stitching out, or actually stitch them out -- some letters have underlay and some letters have absolutely no underlay at all! Is this a problem because DS is not converting the TrueType font totally correctly?

A lot of the TT fonts (and some of the embroidery fonts) don't do underlays properly. It's a pain in the butt to try to figure out. As best I can tell, it depends on whether they've digitized them as columns or as shapes. The columns will get underlay in the text editor but the shapes don't. Of course, I'd love to hear that I'm wrong and that there is some simple fix!

OK, that's good to know that I'm not going crazy! LOL
Yes, I would love to hear from the other users to see what they have to say!
