  • fast frames vibrating

Hello all, I am new to fast frames. I am trying to do applique on a shirt and the fast frame is vibrating and jumping so much that the thread keeps breaking and I have broken two needles. I am using the 7" x 8" fast frame. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help. Jackie in SC

Hi, I don't have a solution for your problem, I have the same problem...I have had my set of fast frames for 1 year and had the same trouble when I tried to use them...and brought clips (sold at an office supply store) to hold item down...tried everything...nothing worked. So, I put them in a drawer and that is where they are to this day...I am interested in the solutions that you get to your question...as I will try them...because up until now..to me the purchase of the fast frames was a waste

We use our fastframes often without problem--I am trying to think of what might be going on--you do have it screwed on tightly? Is your presser foot down? Are you using sticky backing...if so, try using regular backing and small clips to hold the garment and backing onto the frames. The sticky backing can cause flagging. Are your needles new without burrs? Sorry, I am just thinking as I type. I really cannot think of any other reasons why your frames should bounce that drastically.

I use FastFrames frequently and understand the flagging issue you describe. Usually this happens more with the larger 9-inch frames, right? I purchased the table top for the XT and that helps a lot with heavier pieces. Sometimes I just guide my hand on the edge to keep the frame from flagging. Another trick is to clip on a A-clip (make sure it's out of the way of the design) just give it some weight to offset the imbalance. I have a few that I purchased from Home Depot and can arrange them on the edge that won't interfere with the movement of the XT carriage while sewing out. I love the Fast Frames, but agree that flagging can be an issue on some designs.

I had someone come in as a sub and she had attatched the frame itself upside down when screwing it to the main frame. That caused some issues with bouncing. I've had good luck with our fast frames-7 in 1

I have the 7 in 1 Fast Frames, and use them all the time. Do make sure the fast frame is rightside up meaning the hoop part should slant down when putting it onto the 2 posts on the frame then tighten the black knob. I use peel and stick paper and have had no problems..

I too have the 7 in 1 fast frames and use them all of the time. I've also had issues with bouncing but as said above have used clips that offset the bounce and have had to use a finger at times to put a little extra weight and stability there. The larger sizes are definitely the culprit. I have a problem with some of the very small frames snagging my needle plate at times. Have any of you experienced that?

I wanted to post an update. Thanks for all of the help. I did get some clips from Harbor Freight and they work great. They give the hoop a little more weight. The clips do leave wrinkles on my garment, so now I have a heavier extra piece of fuzzy fabric that I clip onto my garment. It adds weight and no wrinkles.
