Sewing on paper of any kind is usually a pain as the paper tears with each stitch. To do this well, you will want to experiment as much as possible.
Make sure you're using as little underlay stitches as possible as they are adding to the number of needle penetrations which weaken the paper. Try using "Auto Density" to ensure you're not using to low of a density in tight areas. You might even want to try adding a layer of cut-a-way backing under the paper to add stability to the paper.
