  • Need sharp edge on a fill

I am working on a patch - fabric is RichVel with cutaway backing - the element is a curved hat brim (about 2" wide) - I am using a Fill/Density 3.6, Stitch Length 30, Partitions 4, 45 degree angle. The Primary Underlay Fill is
8 pt Margin, Density 12, Stitch Length 10. My edge is still not sharp enough but I don't want an "outline". Any suggestions for getting a nice sharp edge on it? Thanks, Twinsmom

Try a 1mm wide satin column stitch around the edge, no underlay. Overlap the edge about .1mm. It should clean up the edge and hopefully won't be noticeable. Play with the density a little bit to see if you can get the desired results.
It should look better than the ragged edge of the fill.

Another way to get a sharper edge on a fill element is to use the trapunto tool.....
