Thread storage

Good morning to all. One question, as to thread storage. How do most of embroidery shops store there thread, by color, or by color number? Is it most feasible to look for color shade or color number?

+I have my thread stored in drawers by group (blue, red, etc). I write the numbers on the bottom and top, so I can store them either way for more space. In my design notes, I keep record of thread brand and color number, then off to the side in parentheses i name the color group so I know which drawer to start looking in.

So far I have them by the number order, so now I need to get use to writing it down in design notes as to what I used on each design.

My thread is on the wall in the exact sequence as the thread card.
