  • iso trick/tool for blanket corner placement

Is there a tool or trick to centering text or a design diagonal to the corner of a blanket. I have been doing many baby blankets and there has to be a more efficient way to center it and hoop. I have been measuring and marking from the corner up each side then across at each mark then from the corner up to where it meets the diagonal line.
    I appreciate any tips,
    Thanks!

Go to your local fabric or quilting store, and get a quilters triangle. It's just a triangle, clear, with measuring grids on it. If they don't have one, check the local hardware store and see what they have.

I guess you could try making a template from cardboard to lay on the corner if all the blankets are the same. Then mark with a strip of masking tape to hoop. Remove the tape before sewing.

I always eyeball, put down tape, mark the center and put on the machine. Trace and remove tape and sew.

This is what we do...I have made several size triangles out of cardboard or gift boxes...one is for baby blankets, one for larger blankets etc.
we place the card board top at the bottom corner and then it helps find the line across the blanket which we draw the line from one side to the other side of the blanket and on the card board is a center point which we transfer to the blanket also...it is a quick cheap way to do blankets and I keep the cardboards pinned on a bullentin board next to our hooping table. Works for us...
