  • Sewing Varsity Letter and patches on a Varsity Jacket

Before going to a seamstress, my friend asked if I could sew her daughters Varsity letter (left chest) and patches (jacket back) onto her Varsity jacket. I would want to use my Amaya, so could I scan in the items and then digitized them as if I were applying an applique? Program a placement stitch and then a good tackdown stitch?
Wondering if anyone has attempted this and if it's easy or difficult and not worth it.
    Thank you,

I've tried it with my own daughter's jacket....it's not worth the time and effort in my opinion. After scanning, digitizing the stitches, and then stitching with the stitches not matching up due to graphic sizing, I took it to the cleaners; I had spent way too much time for the $20 it cost for the letter and a patch to be sewn on. By the way, I do a lot of jackets (300 a year)...the embroidery that is. Just no patches!

We have over 20 varsity jackets to do for our area schools for Christmas. I sew the back design and the name using the Amaya and I put the letter and any other patches on with my regular sewing machine. It takes a short time to just do a zig zag around the letter and/or patch.

Thanks for both responses. I will refer her out since I have enough to do this time of year.
