I have had good results embroidering leather- just be sure to decrese the stitch count so you don't "cut out" the embroidery & a double center walk on text helps it to keep from sinking in. As for the horse blanket, I personally have never done one, but I don't see a problem with the Amaya handling that one either. You will probably have to raise the presser foot height to about 3 for leather and maybe even higher for the blankets.
I do horse blankets and saddle pads weekly with no problem on the amayas part. the only trouble I have is hooping them. They can be quite thick and spongy and the hoop is a bi**h to keep on there. I usually put the area to be hooped in the heat press and squash the **** out of it and it makes it more flexible long enough to ge the hoop on. Hope this info helps.
